Just so we can get something on this new page, I thought I'd share with you some of my thoughts on becoming a teacher ...

It's hard. VERY VERY HARD.

If I thought dealing with one six-year-old was tough, try hnadling 27 you have never met before.

The 1000th time you ask children to write their date on their work, make a mental note to take that many sips of alcoholic liquid later that evening. (Note to self ... could lead to alcoholism. Note to self ... transfer idea to chocolate. Weight gain is preferable to a hospital bed.)

In the staff room. Keep mouth firmly zipped. DONOT mention anyone else's name, do not swear or say the word God (especially in a Catholic School and add the word damned there as well to cover all bases).

Donot expect to drink a cup of coffee/tea or go to the toilet. And that means ALL DAY people. You are a student teacher. Respect your place in the pecking order.

And finally, go to bed early. Tomorrow will always be a better day.
